Ivan Britanov was born in 1955 and gained a taste for travelling when his family emigrated at a time he was still a young boy.
He qualified as a lawyer in 1979, learning to think on his feet in court duels before moving into the world of corporate finance deals, which sharpened up his negotiation skills. Arranging words and presenting them persuasively eventually led him to write for television, and now to write the story of Svetlana Dorenko, a Moscow reporter.
Britanov has a fascination with Russia and its people. A vast land of great diversity has suffered the agonising twists and turns of history as much
as any country. There have been and will be stories to tell. Britanov admires the many brave Russians who have fought for the most basic of human rights – to speak freely – and then paid the ultimate price.
